Hydroxyethylidene Diphosphonic Acid (HEDP), is primarily used in cooling water treatment, as a corrosion inhibitor, deflocculant, and sequestrant, it can also be used in textiles, sugar processing, dyes, soaps & detergents, oilfields, peroxide bleaching, and metal surface treatment products. HEDP is freely miscible in water, alcohol, and organic solvents and is very stable across wide pH and temperature ranges. It is represented by the formula: C₂H₈O₇P_2.
